It’s summer and vacation time, so get your dancin’ shoes on, but if they are not up to snuff we at Jamin Leather decided to share with you as to…
HOW TO REPAIR YOUR LEATHER SHOES
FIX SCUFFS AND SCRATCHES
Shoe polish - most department stores sell shoe polishes in a variety of colors. Select a color close to your pair. This should hide most all of your scuffs and scratches. Polish will not work on PVC or vinyl leather-like materials. Be sure to buff out the excess polish with a soft cloth for best results and also to keep the polish from rubbing off on your socks, pants or other items.
Leather dye (with the sponge on top). Not recommended for quality boots and besides this product is generally shiny when it dries and will probably not match the rest of the boot or shoe if you don’t cover the whole boot or shoe. This might be ok for work boots at businesses that require a certain look.
On quality leathers, scuffs and scratches can never be completely hidden.
FIX SOLE SEPARATION
Gorilla glue or similar product, and sometimes Crazy Glue but this stuff does not flex very well when it dries.
FIX DULL AND FADED LEATHER
Mink Oil / Neatsfoot Oil – will both darken and ideal for black leather and restore some of the softness of the natural leather. Quality naked and premium leathers can fade from outdoor use. These oils will also waterproof your shoes.
Shoe Polish – you may need to cover the entire boot when polishing for best results. Do not leave any residue in the cracks, this can mark any clothing it comes across. Polish must be buffed out completely.
FIX CRACKED AND DRY LEATHER
Mink Oil / Neatsfoot Oil – restores and waterproofs the leather but will darken, ideal for black.
Leather Lotion – restores the leathers softness but might darken slightly.
Saddle Soap – restores and cleans the leather but might darken slightly.
FIX TORN LEATHER
Give up and buy a new pair! But maybe a Frankenstein scar type repair if you are creative with a staple gun.
FIX MY NON-LEATHER BOOTS
We know you love them but again, toss them and reinvest in a quality leather pair. Your feet will thank you… and smell better too!
Well, Jamin’ Leather may not carry all types and styles of boots that are available today but we are a great source for quality leather boots. We can admit not all our boots are leather mainly since there are so many styles we would like to carry but are not available in leather. But know we do stand behind our quality. This shows by us having had the lowest return/exchange rate on boots and shoes than any other leather apparel we carry. Amazingly, our quality boots and shoes all seem to fit perfectly on the first try.
